NACC SGA Holds Spring Blood Drive
The Student Government Association at Northeast Alabama
Community College held its Spring Blood Drive today in the
Student Center. The drive was sponsored by Blood Assurance. The
mission of Blood Assurance is to provide safe and adequate
supplies of blood and blood components to everyone in need.
A mobile unit was set up outside the Student Center. In addition
to blood donations, Blood Assurance provided a platelet machine
used to collect platelets needed by cancer patients. These
machines and collection stations were conveniently set up inside
the Student Center.
Pictured below is Shaunacie Haun, Donor Care Specialist with
Blood Assurance, and donor, Jessica Benefield, Transfer Advisor
at Northeast. Benefield said, “It was important for me to donate
today because of a family friend who was notified last week
about remission following cancer treatment.” Benefield, along
with several others, had already gathered to donate when the
drive began at 9 am.
