Train to be a Fiber Optics Technician
in Seven Days at NACC
Northeast Alabama Community College, in partnership with the BDI
DataLynk, will present a series of Fiber Optic training courses
in September and October. Training includes both classroom
instruction and hands-on participation.
The 3-day introductory Basic Fiber Optics
(CFOT) course is designed for anyone interested in becoming a
Certified Fiber Optics Technician. Training will begin Monday,
September 29 through Wednesday, September 30. This training
prepares a participant to take the Certified Fiber Optics
Technician exam given at the end of the course. Cost of the
three-day (COFT) training is $700, which includes textbooks,
study materials, course CD, award of completion, 1-year
membership to the Fiber Optics Association, and exam.
The Certified Fiber Optics Specialist in
Testing and Maintenance is a 2-day program designed to offer
advanced training to anyone involved with the testing and
maintenance of fiber optic networks. Training is scheduled for
Thursday and Friday, October 1 and 2. Cost of the two-day
(CFOS/T) training is $675, which includes textbooks, study
materials; course CD, award of completion, and exam.
Participants must have passed the Basic Certified Fiber Optics
Technician exam to take this class.
The Certified Fiber Optics Splicing
Specialist is a 2-day course, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday,
October 5 and 6. Knowledgeable instructors explain the
importance of high performance splicing and detail the points
necessary to achieve these splices. Cost of the two-day (CFOS/S)
training is $675, which includes textbooks, study materials;
course CD, award of completion, and exam. Participants must have
passed the Basic Certified Fiber Optics Technician exam to take
this class.
Courses will be held on the NACC campus
from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Interested participants should have
a basic working knowledge of computers, able to identify small
items, and able to speak and understand the English language.
