Annual Christmas Gala December 10
The Northeast Alabama Community College Foundation Board is
hosting its annual Christmas Gala on December 10, at 6:30 pm, in
the lobby of the Tom Bevill Lyceum on campus. It will be an
exciting evening and with special entertainment for those in
attendance. Miss Kimberly Chesser, a former NACC student and now
an actress in New York City, will perform.
Chesser is the daughter of Hurston and LaVerne Chesser of Fyffe
and a graduate of Fyffe High School. Her love of acting started
at NACC when her mother took her to see Shenandoah. She
has performed in over a dozen plays at NACC Theatre under the
direction of Ann Everett. Kimberly graduated cum laude with a
BFA in Theatre from the University of Montevallo. Her
professional acting career began at Theatre West Virginia, and
she now lives in New York City.
Highlights of her career include the
national tours of Camelot and Ragtime, as well as
touring Japan as a guest soloist with the Tokyo Philharmonic.
She recently filmed a new TV pilot called The Hicks,
playing David Naughton’s wife, and has also shared the stage
with Richard Kind, Natalie Portman, Mike Nichols, and Meryl
Streep. Additional theatrical credits include Jekyll and Hyde,
Footloose, Anything Goes, Fiddler on the Roof,
The Wizard of Oz, and The Nerd. Along with acting,
Chesser has her own voice studio in New York. Her students can
be seen all over the world, from cruise lines to Broadway
stages.
“This Gala is shaping up to be one of the most exciting evenings
we’ve had at Northeast,” said Susan Barron, Director of Events
Planning. “We’re all looking forward to seeing Kimberly Chesser
again on the Northeast stage. She has had so many rich
experiences since leaving NACC and we look forward to seeing her
perform at home, on her first stage.”
“A beautiful gourmet dinner will be served, as well. We hope
many of our Northeast graduates and friends of the College will
show their support by purchasing tickets and supporting the work
of our Foundation Board,” continued Barron. “Many students will
be assisted through the monies raised at this event. We look
forward to our Northeast friends being with us on this special
evening.”
Tickets for the event are $50 each and can be purchased from
Nancy Griggs in the Workforce Development Building, Room 259, or
Susan Barron, Pendley Administration Building, Room 205. Tickets
may also be purchased by phoning ext. 248. |
