NACC Graduate Excels in Law School
Robin Love of Stevenson, a 2001 graduate
of Northeast Alabama Community College, will graduate from The
John Marshall Law School in May of this year. She is ranked 5th
out of 84 students in her graduating class and is on the Mock
Trial Team and the Law Review. At the writing of this article,
she is busily preparing for a mock trial competition.
John Marshall is a private, accredited law
school located in Atlanta, Georgia. The school has been open
since 1933 and its program offers students expertise at the JD
level.
Before attending John Marshall, Love attended the University of
Tennessee at Chattanooga. “Northeast prepared me well for
transfer to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga,” said
Love, who graduated there in 2003. “Not only were the classes at
Northeast both challenging and interesting, but the professors’
enthusiasm for teaching and sincere care and willingness to help
students touched and motivated me.”
Love
advises future NACC transferees to take full advantage of the
accessibility of the professors at NACC. “You don’t have this
luxury at bigger schools and universities,” she said. “And it
really is a luxury; not only do you get one-on-one assistance,
but you can potentially form friendship and mentoring bonds that
last long after graduation (like NACC Instructor Dr. Daphne
Huntley and me!).”
“I have been impressed with Robin since
the first time I met her and she announced, ‘I want to be a
prosecutor,’” said Dr. Huntley of Love. “Here was this
18-year-old female high school grad proclaiming out loud that
she wanted to do battle. So many lawyers shy away from the court
room and criminal law. Robin had already made up her mind that
she wanted to be in the courtroom. Of course, Robin brought that
same intensity to my classroom, where she excelled in writing
and literature, served as an officer in the English honorary and
was inducted into the mathematics honorary. Her achievements in
law school have been simply outstanding. I wish her nothing but
the best.”
Future plans for Love include one day
having her own practice where she will concentrate on criminal
defense, personal injury, and family law.
